USS Intrepid - Operation Slumber

General Info

The USS Intrepid hosts Operation Slumber Overnight, which is an incredible opportunity for organized youth groups, such as Cub Scouts and their families, to discover what it takes to eat, live and sleep aboard the Intrepid.


Participants sleep amongst the planes and exhibits on the Hangar Deck. Cots are provided by the Museum. Please bring your own sleeping bags and/or blankets.

Event Rules & Additional Details

At least one (1) adult for every five (5) youth ages 8 and up. Adults must be 21 years of age or older. Youth participants must be between the ages of 6-17. Children under 6 are not allowed.

Each participant will have time to view the Space Shuttle Pavilion when the program first begins. The Space Shuttle Pavilion will be open from 6:15pm to 7:20pm for self-guided tours. Dinner, snack and breakfast are included.


Additional activities include

  • Flashlight guided tours of the flight deck

  • Unlimited simulator rides.

  • Planetarium shows

  • Hands-on educational activities

  • T-shirt for each youth participant and an Intrepid patch.

  • 60-day return pass to the museum for everyone
